The hut

The bivouac will be built of wood, resting on a concrete foundation.
The design, obviously, is functional but will also show characteristics of sculpted art.
An Italian architect will collaborate with designer Arjen Bakermans in order to present the hut's final and official drawings.

A maximum of 16 people can spend the night in the hut.
The interior provides generous living space with tables and benches and will be equipped with an exterior toilet accomodation.
In order to let as many light as possible enter the room and also for safeguarding the view on the landscape, there are many windows.

The location where the bivouac will be built, at an altitude of 2530m, is about 250m higher than the abandoned and peaceful mountain pasture called Pra de Dieu. A stream runs by the pasture at the foot of the northern slope of Becca di Luseney (3504m).

The door will never be locked, there is no host.
Everyone can spend the night for free, based on self-catering.
Usually one remains only for the night (or two) before continuing towards the next refuge.

Earlier drawings of the hut can be seen in 'The timeline'.
Our report on further progress, and later on pictures of the works, can be found there too.
