- Maurizio Gaillard (GdV) sends his new years wishes and lets us know about the request he received for an even bigger bivouac. The hut should be able to accommodate 16 people instead of the initial 10. The reason is the future status of the area; it will become a national park.
And, due to the additional sleeping places, the refuge should be equipped with a toilet accommodation too.
- After the first drawing sessions, Arjen received comments and suggestions from various people close to him. His fellow artistic colleagues make him see that the current design of the bivouac lacks the very character of his art work. It has no soul; the essential relationship between aspiration, object and landscape.
Arjen returns to the drawing board...
- On January 12, 'Foundation Bivacco Valpelline' is established. Registration number Chamber of Commerce in Tiel is: 11064156
- Contacts are made with the Dutch Climbing- and Mountaineering Association (NKBV) and the Clup Alpino Italiano (CAI) regarding financial aid and possible subsidy for the project. The NKBV is excited and is willing to financially participate provided that the local CAI divison will pay its share too. But the CAI lets us know that they do not financially involve in such projects because the regional mountain guides are independent...
The Foundation renews her request with the GdV for formal documents that clearly show that the City of Bionaz and Val d'Aosta Region have agreed to make a substantial financial contribution. Perhaps these documents can convince the NKBV to grant a subsidy through their 'huttenfonds'.
- On January 27 the Foundation's board and working group convene for the first time.
