In een refuge in Gran Paradiso National Park Arjen coincidentally meets Luigi (Gigi) Vignone. Gigi is mountain guide in the Valley of Valpelline.
The two men sit down and engage in an animated conversation. From their talk Arjen learns that the "Guides de Valpelline" want an extra, strategically located refuge in their valley for some time now.
